According to a study, getting in and out of the bathtub or
shower without added safety features can be extremely dangerous for older adults.* Fortunately, there are many ways
to help senior citizens and people with special needs remain independent and safe in their home bathrooms. We've compiled
a list of products and precautions that can greatly reduce the chance of injury and increase accessibility in the bathroom.
• Do not use sliding shower doors to support weight. If possible, replace shower doors with shower curtains.
• Install weight-bearing grab bars for use when entering the shower and bath. Follow the manufacturer's directions for installation.
