CLEANING PRODUCTS. OUT OF SIGHT. OUT OF MIND.
They come in bright, shiny packages. A lot of them smell like fruit. And some even have cartoons on them. Why wouldn't kids and curious pets be completely fascinated with your cleaning supplies? So store them in a high, hard-to-reach place or in a cabinet with locks.

THE IMPENETRABLE TOILET
When you leave the toilet lid up, you're practically inviting kids to play in it and pets to drink out of it. So keep it down. And if need be, get a toilet lid lock. It may be a pain, but it's a lot nicer than dealing with the consequences if you don't.

KEEP COOL
Hot hurts. Keep the water heater set below 120°F to reduce the risk of scalding and be sure to keep that curling iron of yours away from kids, even when it’s unplugged and cooling. It looks like a light saber to them.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION
Keep all medications in their original containers, with contents, expiration dates and doctor's instructions clearly legible. Health-related ointments, syrups, and creams should never be stored with cleaning products. Because there's nothing worse than accidentally taking two teaspoons of floor polish for that nagging cough.

NOTHING SHOCKING
Ensure all your outlets in the bathroom are GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupters). That's fancy talk for outlets that help prevent electrocutions. They're inexpensive and potentially life saving. A licensed electrician can help with the installation.
